No Action Needed on erroneous GSA emails regarding Name or Address Change modifications

As a result of the federal government’s transition from usage of the DUNS Number to the new Unique Entity ID (UEI) on April 4, 2022, many challenges with SAM registrations, validations and the Multiple Award System (MAS) program have been created.

GSA Interact released a notice in June 2022 to all Industry Partners who may have received emails with the subject line: “Reminder to create a change of name, or novation modification.”

Due to the change from using the DUNS number to SAM UEI certain minor punctuation (periods, commas, etc.) and abbreviations in a company name or address may have changed during the SAM.gov’s entity validation process. This has resulted in mismatches between entity name’s in SAM.gov and the MAS systems and therefore triggering a Name Change, Address Change, or Novation modification notification. According to GSA, contractors are advised to ignore these emails unless in fact a Name Change, Address Change, or Novation modification is required.
