Turning the Lights Out on the 72A Reporting System

On November 6th, 2018, a posting on GSA Interact announced that GSA will be shutting down the legacy 72A Reporting System, which is currently used for reporting MAS Sales (non-TDR) and IFF remittance. With the implementation of the Transactional Data Reporting (TDR) Rule in 2016, a new, more modern & efficient reporting system, the Federal Acquisition Service (FAS) Sales Reporting Portal (SRP), was created to support the new monthly reporting needs. The SRP system was designed to collect data, report sales, & remit fee payments for multiple FAS procurement programs, including Multiple Award Schedules (MAS) and Non-MAS programs such as Government-Wide Acquisition Contracts (GWACS). For the last few years, GSA has been running both reporting systems simultaneously as the TDR pilot has rolled-out through the MAS program. With all of the start-up bugs now foreseeably out of the way, GSA intends to continue their IT modernization, efficiency & security efforts by transitioning more than 14,000 contracts into the FAS SRP via a three phase implementation process. The 72A Reporting System is scheduled to be shut down during 2019.

The Transition Process

The three step transition process is to be carried out over the next twelve (12) months, in which contractors will begin reporting with the new FAS SRP system.  GSA will migrate their historical data from 72A over to the new SRP reporting system. The three phases are as follows:

  • Phase One: A contractor will be notified via email that their contract(s) have been assigned a transition date – the first day of any given reporting quarter. At the end of that quarter, the contractor will begin using the FAS SRP system.
  • Phase Two: The contractor completes their final reporting in the 72A Reporting System.
  • Phase Three: When a contracts’ historical data is transferred from the 72A Reporting System to the FAS SRP system. Historical data will not be migrated unless the contractor has reported & remitted IFF payment for the final quarter in the 72A Reporting System.

 If any variances in the IFF payments are identified during this process, GSA will notify the contractor via email prior to migrating their history into the FAS SRP system.
