Verify or Beware! Don’t Miss Out on Veteran Set-aside Contracts
When doing business with the Federal Government, whether awarded a U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) or General Services Administration (GSA) contract, choosing the right socio-economic classifications are extremely important when it comes to opportunity advancements. The effects of a recent U.S. Supreme Court decision have significantly altered VA contracting policies, including those conducted through GSA’s Federal Supply Schedules (FSS). Through the Veterans First Contracting Program, Veteran Owned Small Businesses (VOSBs) and verified Service-Disable Veteran-Owned Businesses (SDVOSBs) will receive preferential set-aside procurement opportunities. However, funds are strictly awarded to accredited businesses which are legitimately owned and controlled by Veterans.
A business must now go through a verification process in which their information will be published in the VA Vendor Information Pages (VIP) database. Being published in the VIP database is the only way to confirm verification. If a business, SDVOSB or VOSB, chooses to forego verification it will not be considered for any set-aside procurement opportunities under the Veterans First Contracting Program, regardless of its System for Award Management (SAM) database or GSA eLibrary status listing. For more information on how to verify your VOSB or SDVOSB socio-economic status, click here. Don’t miss out these opportunities, only available to “Vets First”!
