GSA Issues RFI on Proposed Agile Delivery Services BPA
The General Services Administration (GSA) is seeking comments and input from industry professionals regarding the proposed Agile Delivery Services Blanket Purchase Agreement (BPA). The goal of this BPA is to create a faster, more efficient delivery vehicle featuring vendors who specialize in Agile development and design in order to keep pace with and remain competitive in today’s dynamic and modern world. The proposed BPA aims to provide a more flexible and leaner software acquisition platform (from solicitation to contract) in less than four weeks, and establish delivery of a minimum viable product (MVP) in under three months.
About Agile Development
Agile development and lean product and manufacturing design processes value certain key concepts that favor:
- User centered design
- Rapid response to change
- Iterative delivery of end product, and
- Test driven development environments
On January 7, 2015 GSA issued an RFI asking companies to help further define the key framework, terms, and components for the proposed agile software and product development BPA. The RFI is open for comments and review until Friday, January 23rd and may be viewed on FedBizOpps . Additionally, GSA is requesting that companies submit and detail how they would improve or change the current FedBizOpps website by using specific agile testing and design strategies.
