System for Award Management
Registration in the System for Award Management (SAM) is required to do business with the federal government and receive payment. The federal government transitioned from using the DUNS Number to the Unique Entity ID, generated in SAM.gov, effective April 4, 2022. The Unique Entity ID is now the authoritative governmentwide identifier used for federal awards. Below are tips on how to find your Unique Entity ID, check your SAM Status, update points of contact and renew your registration:
- Find your Unique Entity ID – Search in “Entity Information” and you will see your Unique Entity ID under “Legal Business Name”. If you do not see results, try updating the filter to see “Entity Status Inactive” as well
- Check your SAM Entity Status and Expiration Date – Search in “Entity Information”. If your registration status is currently “Active”, you will see the Expiration Date
- Update Points of Contact, NAICS code, financial information and contact information – Login to your SAM.gov account. Go to the ”Workspace”; select “Active Registrations”; on right side you will see options including “view” or “update records”. Select “update” and proceed to update information in all sections; save and submit
- Renew your SAM record before it expires. Login to your SAM.gov account. Go to the ”Workspace”; select “Active Registrations”; on right side you will see options including “view” or “update records”. Select “update” and proceed to update information in all sections; save and submit
